Day 1154

What a day in Seahaven Springs! Truman's kitchen radio cooperated beautifully as he murdered his favourite song, while down at The Anchor things got decidedly spicy—a pickled egg dispute that left him and Jonah Ferris both huffing and not speaking, though the good people of town could hardly call it a proper row. The weather put on a show worthy of the finest theatre: rain, then a rainbow so perfectly timed that even the cynics looked up, and through it all our earnest insurance salesman declared twice that this is the finest town in the world—once before the rainbow, once after, as if he needed convincing either way. Tonight, as umbrellas dried by doorsteps and the town clock ticked on unbothered by the afternoon's power flicker, Seahaven Springs settled into the gentle warmth of a day when nothing truly bad happened, but something was certainly going on.

What was announced

00:00The radio in Truman Beaumont's kitchen has been persuaded to play his favourite song. He is singing along, badly.
09:00A heron has taken up position at Miller's Pond and is refusing to be hurried.
10:00Saturday orchard morning is under way. Opinions about ladders are plentiful.
10:00The town cat is asleep on the Town Hall steps. Municipal business reroutes around it.
10:52Loaf, Take Four: Marla and Truman chase the recipe once more
11:00There is one more chair at The Anchor than there was yesterday. Rex has not mentioned it.
12:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
12:55Sheriff Brody clocks out early to be a dad
14:00The tide is out further than usual. Fern Gorse has gone to look at what it left behind.
15:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
16:00The orchard is loud with bees. Nobody has been stung in living memory.
17:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
18:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
19:00The puddle outside the Sunrise Café has returned to its usual dimensions.
21:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
21:48Truman Beaumont has declared this the finest town in the world. Twice.
22:00Faint harmonica music was heard from the dock. Everybody denies everything.
22:08Jonah Ferris has ordered one for the road and then forgotten which road.
22:38Milo Ferris has explained the tides three times, differently each time.
22:58Lark Ferris has begun issuing compliments in alphabetical order.
23:00Commotion at The Anchor! Jonah Ferris and Truman Beaumont came to (very gentle) blows over a heated debate over the last pickled egg.
