Seahaven Springs flickered like a dreaming eye for three seconds this morning, but the town clock didn't even blink — and neither did anyone else, really, until Kip stopped wondering about it. The day bloomed gentle and ordinary: fruit trees dressed themselves in white blossoms, a stubborn heron claimed Miller's Pond, and somewhere in the chaos of umbrellas and committees (there's a kite stuck in a tree now, naturally), Linus Tidewater went home early with his sore foot, while the real evening happened down at The Anchor, where Friday nights taste like tall fish tales and taller promises kept. By the time the rain cleared and that rainbow painted itself across the sky like an afterthought, Seahaven Springs had done what it does best: turned nothing whatsoever into everything that mattered.
