Day 1867 in Seahaven Springs, under rainy skies. The town clock has stopped at twenty past four. Nobody can agree on when it happened, which is itself a problem of some irony. Dot Ferris has closed the notebook on one small Seahaven mystery, satisfied for now. Rue Callahan has received a postcard from somewhere far away. The handwriting is unfamiliar. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. Everybody, Slightly Left takes a turn. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
