Day 302

Day 302 in Seahaven Springs, under cloudy skies. Nothing has happened in Seahaven Springs for three days. The Sheriff is restless. Dot Ferris is stepping out with Dr. Cornelius Pratt. Dot Ferris has been quiet lately, and keeps starting sentences she does not finish. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. A Quiet Week for the Sheriff runs into trouble. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.

What was announced

07:00The queue at the bakery has reached the door. Nobody minds; it is that kind of queue.
08:00The puddle outside the Sunrise Café has returned to its usual dimensions.
08:33Norma Quist has closed the notebook on one small Seahaven mystery, satisfied for now.
09:00The Town Hall clock and the bakery clock disagree by two minutes. Both are certain.
13:30Nothing has happened in Seahaven Springs for three days. The Sheriff is restless.
15:00A seagull has stolen June Ellery's sandwich near the dock. Again.
16:00A kite is stuck in the big park tree. A committee is forming.
17:00A heron has taken up position at Miller's Pond and is refusing to be hurried.
18:00Someone is practising the same eight bars of piano again. The town has grown fond of them.
18:52Truman Beaumont and Kip Doyle kept their word and finished what they started.
19:00There is one more chair at The Anchor than there was yesterday. Rex has not mentioned it.
20:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
20:00Rain fell in a single column, precisely on Truman Beaumont, and nowhere else in Seahaven Springs.
20:00The radio in Truman Beaumont's kitchen has been persuaded to play his favourite song. He is singing along, badly.
21:00Clouds drift in over the bay. Gus pretends not to enjoy it.
22:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
22:33Flo Tidewater is conducting an imaginary orchestra near the dartboard.
22:36The Anchor's piano is being played by Sal Marino, who cannot play piano.
23:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
