Day 353

What a Wednesday it was in Seahaven Springs—Sal emerged from the sheriff's office with his pride and a handshake intact, Marla and Gus finally stopped pretending their benches in the park were separate, and somewhere a heron settled in at Miller's Pond as if it owned the place. The town ladder continued its mysterious journey through borrowed hands, the clocks disagreed by two minutes (and neither blinked), and as the evening light turned the bay into something almost unreasonably beautiful, half the town simply sat down and watched it happen. Tomorrow the committees will surely gather for the Lighthouse Lighting, but tonight—tonight Seahaven Springs simply exhaled.
