Day 4001 in Seahaven Springs, under cloudy skies. Control has sent an old friend to sit with Truman Beaumont for a while. Nothing calms him faster. The tide is out further than usual. Hattie Whitlow has gone to look at what it left behind. Fog has come in off the bay and stopped, very precisely, at the edge of town. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on.
