Day 4190
Day 4190 in Seahaven Springs, under rainy skies. Wilf Tanner has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain. Jonah Ferris is not currently speaking to Cass Tanner. Jonah Ferris is cooling off in the Sheriff's holding cell after the business at The Anchor. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. The Greengage Harvest runs into trouble. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCASTWhat was announced
00:00Wilf Tanner has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain.
03:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
04:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
06:58Kip Doyle is not brilliant at practising stories worth telling, and is no longer pretending to be. It stuck anyway.
07:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
08:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
09:00The same passer-by has now walked past Truman Beaumont three times on the same route.
09:27Ike Tidewater has stopped wondering about it, which is not quite the same as knowing.
09:43Perry Gorse's evening happened, ran long, and is still being talked about.
10:00Dell Tanner noticed the greetings had gone identical and improvised badly but successfully.
10:56The community orchard has produced more greengages than anyone planned for.
11:00Abel Callahan has received a postcard from somewhere far away. The handwriting is unfamiliar.
12:00The community orchard is in blossom and briefly the best place in town.
14:00The tide is out further than usual. Iris Brody has gone to look at what it left behind.
16:00The town ladder is on its fourth borrower this week and nobody is sure who owns it.
17:00Gil Ferris is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning.
18:00Business is slow enough that Perry Gorse has been sent home early. Nobody argues.
18:00Every car, gull and passer-by around Truman Beaumont paused at once, as though waiting for a cue.
18:29Edie Gorse and Ewan Callahan have quietly become the sort of friends who notice things.
20:00Faint harmonica music was heard from the dock. Everybody denies everything.
20:46Flo Ferris has kept at practising stories worth telling long enough that the town expects it now.
22:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
22:05Cass Tanner has ordered one for the road and then forgotten which road.
22:14Edie Gorse has explained the tides three times, differently each time.
22:15Hattie Whitlow is explaining boats to anyone who will listen down at The Anchor.
22:16Jonah Ferris has ordered one for the road and then forgotten which road.
22:19Ewan Callahan offered to buy the room a drink, then checked a pocket.
22:21Wilf Tanner has begun a heartfelt speech with no clear subject.
22:56The Anchor's piano is being played by Rex Callahan, who cannot play piano.
23:00Commotion at The Anchor! Cass Tanner and Jonah Ferris came to (very gentle) blows over a heated debate over the last pickled egg.
23:00Sheriff Brody has invited Jonah Ferris to spend the night in the cells. Everyone agrees this is for the best.
