Day 4727
Day 4727 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. Commotion at The Anchor! Alma Callahan and Dell Tanner came to (very gentle) blows over a disputed game of dominoes. Dell Tanner is not currently speaking to Alma Callahan. Alma Callahan is cooling off in the Sheriff's holding cell after the business at The Anchor. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. A Visitor Is Expected takes a turn. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCASTWhat was announced
06:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
07:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
07:28Opal Ferris and Fern Gorse have got into the habit of each other.
08:00The queue at the bakery has reached the door. Nobody minds; it is that kind of queue.
09:11Ned Ferris has kept at practising stories worth telling long enough that the town expects it now.
10:44Elaine Whitlow and Marla Finch have quietly become the sort of friends who notice things.
10:55Gil Ferris tidies the front step twice. Bea Callahan bakes, defensively.
11:00Gil Ferris has received a postcard from somewhere far away. The handwriting is unfamiliar.
12:00A seagull has stolen Opal Ferris's sandwich near the dock. Again.
12:00Dell Tanner fumbled Truman Beaumont's name and recovered it smoothly. Nobody breathed.
13:00The photocopier at Seahaven Mutual is making the noise again. Opal Ferris has been elected to deal with it.
13:00Rex Callahan noticed the greetings had gone identical and improvised badly but successfully.
13:34Mabel Tidewater has got to the bottom of it. The bottom was not far down.
14:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
15:00Somebody has repainted their front door overnight. Opinions are being gathered.
16:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
17:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
17:00For four seconds Truman Beaumont's radio carried a voice describing exactly where Truman Beaumont was standing.
17:00Control has sent an old friend to sit with Truman Beaumont for a while. Nothing calms him faster.
18:00The light over Seahaven Springs this evening is almost unreasonably good.
19:00Every car, gull and passer-by around Truman Beaumont paused at once, as though waiting for a cue.
19:45Bev Tanner and Milo Ferris have stopped leaving their friendship to chance.
20:06Perry Gorse and Dot Ferris kept their word and finished what they started.
21:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
21:54Dell Tanner is teaching the room a song that appears to have no chorus.
22:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
22:05Wilf Tanner has sworn undying friendship to somebody met twenty minutes ago.
22:07Ned Ferris has reached the storytelling stage at The Anchor.
22:20Somebody behind the bar has quietly moved Alma Callahan onto the water. Alma Callahan has not noticed.
23:00Commotion at The Anchor! Alma Callahan and Dell Tanner came to (very gentle) blows over a disputed game of dominoes.
23:00Sheriff Brody has invited Alma Callahan to spend the night in the cells. Everyone agrees this is for the best.
