Day 4999
Day 4999 in Seahaven Springs, under cloudy skies. Fog has come in off the bay and stopped, very precisely, at the edge of town. Elaine Whitlow is not brilliant at sketching the shoreline, and is no longer pretending to be. It stuck anyway. Ned Ferris has stopped wondering about it, which is not quite the same as knowing. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. A Visitor Is Expected takes a turn. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
