Day 5691
Day 5691 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. An unclaimed umbrella has been standing by the café door for three days. The photocopier at Seahaven Mutual is making the noise again. Mabel Tidewater has been elected to deal with it. Hal Brody is not currently speaking to Bea Callahan. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. The Case of the Missing Lighthouse Postcard reaches its conclusion. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.

08:00An unclaimed umbrella has been standing by the café door for three days.
10:00The photocopier at Seahaven Mutual is making the noise again. Mabel Tidewater has been elected to deal with it.
12:00The town ladder is on its fourth borrower this week and nobody is sure who owns it.
12:00A studio lamp came loose and struck the road beside Truman Beaumont. Control has logged it as "debris".
12:00Word has gone round the kitchens: Truman Beaumont is to be given his favourite, and no bill.
13:00The community orchard is in blossom and briefly the best place in town.
13:44Fern Gorse has stopped wondering about it, which is not quite the same as knowing.
13:53Marla Finch's evening happened, ran long, and is still being talked about.
17:00Sunday supper is drawing the town toward The Salty Gull.
18:00Business is slow enough that Sal Marino has been sent home early. Nobody argues.
18:00Every car, gull and passer-by around Truman Beaumont paused at once, as though waiting for a cue.
19:50Ewan Callahan and Iris Brody kept their word and finished what they started.
20:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
20:30Whatever Abel Callahan and Lark Ferris were circling, they have landed on it.
22:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
