Day 5720
Day 5720 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. Ike Tidewater is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning. The Town Hall clock and the bakery clock disagree by two minutes. Both are certain. Whatever Perry Gorse and Posy Gorse were circling, they have landed on it. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. The Shortcut runs into trouble. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
