Day 5829
Day 5829 in Seahaven Springs, under rainy skies. Flo Ferris has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain. Milo Ferris is not currently speaking to Flo Ferris. Flo Ferris is cooling off in the Sheriff's holding cell after the business at The Anchor. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. A Key, and No Lock runs into trouble. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCASTWhat was announced
00:00Flo Ferris has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain.
01:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
05:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
08:00The Town Hall clock and the bakery clock disagree by two minutes. Both are certain.
09:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
10:00The town cat is asleep on the Town Hall steps. Municipal business reroutes around it.
10:54A key turns up in a drawer at the town hall, fitting nothing anyone can find.
11:00Perry Gorse noticed the greetings had gone identical and improvised badly but successfully.
12:00The tide is out further than usual. Hattie Whitlow has gone to look at what it left behind.
14:00The photocopier at Seahaven Mutual is making the noise again. Hal Brody has been elected to deal with it.
15:03Kip Doyle has got good enough at keeping a notebook about the pond to be quietly smug about it.
16:00A heron has taken up position at Miller's Pond and is refusing to be hurried.
18:00Friday evening has begun at The Anchor. Rex is polishing the good glasses.
18:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
19:00The light over Seahaven Springs this evening is almost unreasonably good.
19:00The bakery sign flickered and, for a moment, read a different name entirely.
19:38Flo Ferris is telling the same story again, now with improved weather.
19:48Hal Brody is teaching the room a song that appears to have no chorus.
19:49Perry Gorse is conducting an imaginary orchestra near the dartboard.
20:00Faint harmonica music was heard from the dock. Everybody denies everything.
20:50Linus Tidewater has proposed a toast to the concept of Thursdays.
20:58Bea Callahan and Wren Gorse kept their word and finished what they started.
21:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
21:00For four seconds Truman Beaumont's radio carried a voice describing exactly where Truman Beaumont was standing.
21:00Word has gone round the kitchens: Truman Beaumont is to be given his favourite, and no bill.
22:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
22:23Iris Brody offered to buy the room a drink, then checked a pocket.
22:24Milo Ferris has explained the tides three times, differently each time.
23:00Commotion at The Anchor! Milo Ferris and Flo Ferris came to (very gentle) blows over an argument about the correct way to pronounce "buoy".
23:00Sheriff Brody has invited Flo Ferris to spend the night in the cells. Everyone agrees this is for the best.
23:00Edie Gorse offered to buy the room a drink, then checked a pocket.
