Day 854

What a day in Seahaven Springs! Fern Gorse came home from the hospital to find the town wrapped in a mysterious fog that stopped at our borders like it knew exactly where it belonged, and by evening the whole place glowed under a rainbow so perfect it looked almost painted on. Truman got a new postcard for his collection and went about his evening blissfully unaware of all the small wonders—the synchronized umbrellas, the flickering lights, the radio static that seemed to know his name—while the rest of us carried on with our ordinary magic: a kite stuck in the big tree, a hedge dispute brewing, and the whole town drifting toward The Salty Gull for Sunday supper, where Rex and Sal's little Bea was surely being fussed over by every customer who walked through the door. In a town where nothing bad ever happens, it's the strange beautiful things that keep us wondering.

OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCAST

What was announced

00:00Fern Gorse has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain.
00:00A lighthouse postcard has been added to today's mail. Truman Beaumont collects them, and Control knows it.
06:00Fog has come in off the bay and stopped, very precisely, at the edge of town.
07:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
09:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
09:00For four seconds Truman Beaumont's radio carried a voice describing exactly where Truman Beaumont was standing.
10:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
11:00The orchard is loud with bees. Nobody has been stung in living memory.
12:00A hedge has been trimmed one inch past a boundary. Diplomacy is under way.
16:25Fern Gorse and Lark Ferris kept their word and finished what they started.
17:00Sunday supper is drawing the town toward The Salty Gull.
18:00A kite is stuck in the big park tree. A committee is forming.
18:00A door that has been locked for as long as Truman Beaumont can remember was standing open this morning.
19:00The light over Seahaven Springs this evening is almost unreasonably good.
