The weather performed its own theatrical production—rain, rainbows, and sunshine arriving with almost suspicious punctuality—while below, Sheriff Brody solved a mystery that turned out to be about paint rather than paperwork, and an unclaimed umbrella stood patient vigil by the café. The town's clocks disagreed by two minutes, someone repainted their front door in the night, and through it all, an unseen pianist kept playing the same eight bars until the whole town found themselves listening for it. Kip Doyle appeared to be the only one enjoying the sheer quietness of it all, which, in Seahaven Springs, is perhaps the truest measure of a perfect day.
