There's an umbrella still waiting by the café for someone to claim it, the tide went out far enough to show the bay's secrets, and by evening half the town had simply decided the weather was fine enough to sit outside and be together. In Seahaven Springs, even the smallest mercies—a form filed correctly, a new puppy behind the sheriff's desk, the sun breaking through at exactly the right moment—feel like quiet celebrations.
