Day 1749
What a day it's been in Seahaven Springs! Bram came home from the hospital to find the town had painted half the rainbow on someone's walls, while Kip's bakery queue stretched out the door with the kind of patience only small towns possess. Truman and Abel finished their work on the orchard as planned, and though the rain came and went like a visiting relative, it left behind one of those rainbows that makes you believe in second chances. As evening settled in and the piano player—dear, determined Bea—struck up her familiar eight bars, the townspeople found their chairs outside, content in that way that needs no explaining, while a kite waited patiently in the big park tree for tomorrow's committee to rescue it.
OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCASTWhat was announced
00:00Bram Tidewater has been discharged from Seahaven General and is right as rain.
07:00The queue at the bakery has reached the door. Nobody minds; it is that kind of queue.
10:00Saturday orchard morning is under way. Opinions about ladders are plentiful.
11:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
12:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
12:49Sample patches appear. One wall now carries six shades of nearly the same colour.
13:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
15:00A kite is stuck in the big park tree. A committee is forming.
16:02Truman Beaumont and Abel Callahan kept their word and finished what they started.
16:36Bev Tanner has closed the notebook on one small Seahaven mystery, satisfied for now.
17:00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
19:00Someone is practising the same eight bars of piano again. The town has grown fond of them.
20:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
21:57Hal Brody has thanked every chair in The Anchor for its service.
22:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
22:00The Anchor's piano is being played by Bea Callahan, who cannot play piano.
22:18Linus Tidewater offered to buy the room a drink, then checked a pocket.
