Day 1766
What a day in Seahaven Springs—the fog rolled in with such precision it seemed almost choreographed, and by afternoon the rain had drawn the whole town into Marla's café like moths to warmth. Truman and Elaine finished their gardening project together, which pleased everyone who'd been watching them work at it all week. The real mystery, though, belonged to Edie Gorse, who closed her notebook on something small and satisfying just as the rainbow appeared—the kind of ending that makes you feel like the universe is keeping its promises. By evening, the rain had cleared, and half the town was sitting outside under a sky that seemed almost too beautiful to be accidental.
OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCASTWhat was announced
05:00Fog has come in off the bay and stopped, very precisely, at the edge of town.
06:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
07:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
09:00The queue at the bakery has reached the door. Nobody minds; it is that kind of queue.
09:21Iris Brody has got good enough at keeping a notebook about the pond to be quietly smug about it.
10:00The town cat is asleep on the Town Hall steps. Municipal business reroutes around it.
10:58Cole Whitlow and Opal Ferris have stopped leaving their friendship to chance.
11:00A form has been filed correctly at the first attempt. Town Hall is quietly jubilant.
11:11Jonah Ferris is in every attempt, in a different place each time, blinking.
13:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
13:21Opal Ferris and Kip Doyle have got into the habit of each other.
14:00The rain has driven everyone indoors, and the café is doing the best trade of the week.
15:00Rex Callahan is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning.
15:58Truman Beaumont and Elaine Whitlow kept their word and finished what they started.
17:00Business is slow enough that Edie Gorse has been sent home early. Nobody argues.
18:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
18:32Edie Gorse has closed the notebook on one small Seahaven mystery, satisfied for now.
21:00Clouds drift in over the bay. The fishermen pretend not to enjoy it.
22:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
22:12Iris Brody is telling the same story again, now with improved weather.
22:13Orson Ferris has explained the tides three times, differently each time.
22:23Ewan Callahan has become extremely confident about lighthouse engineering.
22:32Abel Callahan is telling the same story again, now with improved weather.
22:51Somebody behind the bar has quietly moved Toby Tanner onto the water. Toby Tanner has not noticed.
