Day 1875
What a day in Seahaven Springs! The rain came and went like a visiting relative, leaving behind a rainbow so perfect it might have been scheduled by someone with a clipboard. Out at the orchard, Iris Brody has quietly become indispensable—no longer learning, but leading—while opinions about ladder safety flew as freely as the clouds. In town, a kite found itself trapped in Founders Park's big tree (a committee is already assembling), mysterious benches turned out to be nothing more than measuring tape with wandering feet, and Opal Ferris hosted a dinner so convivial that nobody even noticed the shortage of plates. Meanwhile, small kindnesses rippled through the day: Toby and Bev Tanner now visit each other for no reason at all, Fern Gorse got sent home early with a smile, and even the fishermen allowed themselves to enjoy the settling clouds. By evening, the Anchor was alive with talk of boats and lighthouses, though Hal Brody sat quietly in a corner, still not quite ready to mend things with Orson Ferris—some silences, it seems, need their own kind of weather.

Kip, you look well enough to be useful.
Edie, you look like someone with five minutes to spare.
You have caught me before my second cup of tea.
Edie, love, the usual? And Iris, I think I've got those seedling notes for you—★
Elaine! Perfect timing. I was just telling Iris how the rain brings out the earthiness in the coffee beans.
Morning, Truman. Everything feels possible at this hour.
Morning, Kip. Just the usual today.
Morning, Kip. Just the usual today.
Bea! You're not usually in on a rainy Tuesday. Everything all right?
Hey, Opal. Didn't expect to see you here on a day like this.
Milo! Just the person I wanted to see.
Morning, Cole. You are out before the town has finished yawning.
