Day 1933
What a day it was in Seahaven Springs—a day of rain and rainbows, of fog that knew exactly where to stop, and of three neighbours greeting Truman with the very same words, as if reading from the same script (which, of course, they weren't). A third mystery gift appeared on his desk at the insurance office, leaving him pleasantly baffled, while across town the bakery's bread smell emptied the square of all productive thought. By evening, as umbrellas unfurled once more and puddles settled into their familiar dimensions, the town had settled too: Lark played piano that she cannot play, Jonah spoke with unearned confidence about lighthouses, and two separate people conducted invisible orchestras near the dartboard at The Anchor—all of it as natural and unremarkable as the sunrise that broke through precisely on schedule. In Seahaven Springs, where nothing bad ever happens, everything was exactly as it should be.
