Bev returned home from the hospital to find the town had moved on without her—though not before the café theorists had already started their suspect list about the mysterious low tide discovery. The ladder continued its weekly migration through unknown hands, June serenely filed permits for nothing in particular, and by evening a rainbow arced over the rooftops like a benediction, reminding everyone that even the smallest town contains infinite small mysteries and quiet joys. Tomorrow will bring more of the same, and that's precisely why we love it here.
