The rain came and went with theatrical precision, leaving behind a rainbow so perfect the editors might have orchestrated it themselves—and in the midst of it all, small mysteries resolved themselves (June and Dr. Pratt both satisfied with their findings), while new ones quietly took root: a repainted door, dueling clocks, and a chair that appeared at The Anchor without explanation. Poor Rex twisted his ankle heroically chasing a trolley and is now holding court from Seahaven General, where Dot fusses over him between her increasingly full schedule, and the bar has been decorated with proud baby photos of little Abel. Through it all, Truman and June kept their promise to each other, Gus denied playing the harmonica he almost certainly played, and a gull won a staring contest—because in Seahaven Springs, even the smallest moments shimmer with a peculiar, contented magic.
