Day 438

What a day it's been in Seahaven Springs—Hal hung up his badge after forty-four years of peacekeeping, and the whole town gathered round a cake to thank him for it. Meanwhile, the fog rolled in like it had an appointment, stopping neat as you please at the town line, and Sal took a tumble down the Town Hall stairs that's landed him in Dot's capable hands at the General. Love is blooming all over town: Dot and Kip, Marla and Gus, June and dear Truman—and somewhere near the dartboard, three people found themselves conducting orchestras that only they could hear. Tomorrow will bring its small mysteries and smaller miracles, but tonight, Seahaven Springs rests easy, knowing that everything that needed doing got done, and everyone who needed looking after is being looked after.
