Day 455
What a day in Seahaven Springs—Gus emerged from Sheriff Hal's office with nothing but a handshake and his dignity, though not before he and Elaine had already mended whatever fence needed mending; meanwhile, a traveling garden gnome continued its mysterious pilgrimage to yet another porch, the town's most baffling unsolved case. Rex's talent night announcement drew the whole town like moths to flame (or like seagulls to Elaine's sandwich, which happened again), and by evening, the warm light and the promise of Sunday supper had drawn half of Seahaven Springs outside to sit together. Somewhere in all of it—between the fresh bread smell and the impossible rainbow and the gentle harmonica notes drifting from the dock—love was quietly settling into new shapes: Gus and Marla stealing glances, Rex and Sal finishing what they started, June and Truman finding their rhythm one coffee at a time, and Dot stepping forward into a life with Kip that looked nothing like the one she'd known before.
