Day 4980
Day 4980 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. Mabel Tidewater is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning. The town waits. The road stays exactly as empty as it has always been. It is Wednesday lunch in Founders Park. Benches are being claimed diplomatically. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. A Visitor Is Expected reaches its conclusion. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
