Day 5280
Day 5280 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. Truman Beaumont and Elaine Whitlow discover they are both entering the chess contest. Dot Ferris has worked their last shift at Seahaven Mutual, at 68. There was cake. Hattie Whitlow is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. The Great Chess Rivalry takes a turn. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.
