Day 5541
Day 5541 in Seahaven Springs, under sunny skies. Dot Ferris and Kip Doyle no longer need a reason to call round. Bea Callahan has hosted the thing they kept meaning to host. For four seconds Truman Beaumont's radio carried a voice describing exactly where Truman Beaumont was standing. Nothing bad ever happens here — but something is always going on. Something in the Pond reaches its conclusion. Goodnight, Truman. In case we don't see you: good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.

08:00For four seconds Truman Beaumont's radio carried a voice describing exactly where Truman Beaumont was standing.
08:00A lighthouse postcard has been added to today's mail. Truman Beaumont collects them, and Control knows it.
09:00The community orchard is in blossom and briefly the best place in town.
10:00A heron has taken up position at Miller's Pond and is refusing to be hurried.
10:00Nell Tidewater fumbled Truman Beaumont's name and recovered it smoothly. Nobody breathed.
10:55The town gathers at the water's edge to watch two adults peer into reeds.
11:00The Town Hall clock and the bakery clock disagree by two minutes. Both are certain.
12:00A form has been filed correctly at the first attempt. Town Hall is quietly jubilant.
13:00A seagull has stolen Dot Ferris's sandwich near the dock. Again.
13:00Posy Gorse noticed the greetings had gone identical and improvised badly but successfully.
14:00A kite is stuck in the big park tree. A committee is forming.
15:00Nothing whatsoever is happening in Seahaven Springs. Truman Beaumont appears to be enjoying it.
16:00Somebody has repainted their front door overnight. Opinions are being gathered.
17:00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
17:00Posy Gorse nearly answered Truman Beaumont early, and turned it into a cough.
18:00The rain has driven everyone indoors, and the café is doing the best trade of the week.
18:51Dell Tanner has closed the notebook on one small Seahaven mystery, satisfied for now.
20:00The bakery sign flickered and, for a moment, read a different name entirely.
20:48Hattie Whitlow and Ewan Callahan kept their word and finished what they started.
21:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.

22:11Gil Ferris has declared this the finest town in the world. Twice.
