Day 5892

This day is still being broadcast. Its recap is written at midnight, when the town goes to sleep.

What was announced

02:00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.

07:00Fog has come in off the bay and stopped, very precisely, at the edge of town.

09:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.

09:00Iris Brody has come down with a mystery rash nobody can identify and is being kept in for observation.

09:24Ike Tidewater has got good enough at practising stories worth telling to be quietly smug about it.

10:00Rex Callahan has received a postcard from somewhere far away. The handwriting is unfamiliar.

11:00A form has been filed correctly at the first attempt. Town Hall is quietly jubilant.

12:00The morning mail has arrived. Fern Gorse received a mysterious postcard.

12:57Posy Gorse thinks the new position is better. Nell Tidewater thinks this is a betrayal.

14:00A hedge has been trimmed one inch past a boundary. Diplomacy is under way.

14:51Iris Brody's small gathering has come together, with just enough chairs and no speeches.

15:00There is one more chair at The Anchor than there was yesterday. Rex has not mentioned it.

16:00A studio lamp came loose and struck the road beside Truman Beaumont. Control has logged it as "debris".

16:00Word has gone round the kitchens: Truman Beaumont is to be given his favourite, and no bill.

18:00Friday evening has begun at The Anchor. Rex is polishing the good glasses.

19:14Bev Tanner has hosted the thing they kept meaning to host.

19:18Hattie Whitlow has hosted the thing they kept meaning to host.

19:38Hattie Whitlow is negotiating with a bar stool and appears to be losing.

19:40Jonah Ferris has explained the tides three times, differently each time.

19:42Linus Tidewater is negotiating with a bar stool and appears to be losing.

19:44Hal Brody has reached the storytelling stage at The Anchor.

20:00A door that has been locked for as long as Truman Beaumont can remember was standing open this morning.

20:04The Anchor's piano is being played by Flo Ferris, who cannot play piano.

20:56Posy Gorse has reached the storytelling stage at The Anchor.

21:12Lark Ferris has turned sketching the shoreline into a real part of life.

21:15Bram Tidewater has decided the dartboard is at fault and said so publicly.
