Day 669 brought rain and rainbows, mysterious postcards and seagulls with theft in their hearts, a radio voice that lingered just a beat too long, and the small magic of a town moving through its evening with unselfconscious grace. Truman collected his lighthouse postcard and lost a staring contest to a gull; the bakery clocks disagreed; Rex thanked his furniture; and somewhere in The Anchor, the night had reached that lovely stage where the distinction between sense and sentiment grows wonderfully thin. In Seahaven Springs, it was just another day—which is to say, it was perfect.
