The weather played its usual tricks—clouds rolling in just thick enough to make the fishermen sigh contentedly, and a fog so precise it stopped at the town's edge like it knew exactly where it belonged. There was a mysterious postcard for Sal, a photocopier at Seahaven Mutual decided to make its presence known, and a kite met its unfortunate fate in the park tree, which has already sparked the formation of a rescue committee. Most importantly, Truman had one of those quiet moments we all get sometimes—the kind where you suddenly wonder about the bigger world—but our earnest insurance salesman was soon set right by the company of an old friend, and by evening, the whole town was drifting toward The Salty Gull for Sunday supper, as they always do. Even the sun knew when to make its dramatic exit.
