Day 1635

Day 1635 dawned warm and generous in Seahaven Springs, and the whole town seemed to lean into it—half the residents found reasons to sit outside, while a heron claimed Miller's Pond for the afternoon and refused to budge. Truman received his postcard (a lighthouse, naturally), and the day spiraled pleasantly outward: Kip and Dot landed on whatever secret they'd been circling, Opal tested her first tall tale to the encouraging smell of plums at the bakery, and somewhere down at The Anchor, two grateful souls—Orson and Linus—thanked every chair for its service, though nobody quite asked why. By evening, Jonah Ferris was playing piano he cannot play, Rex had explained the tides three different ways, and Elaine and Marla had quietly finished what they'd started over two patient coffees. The lights flickered once, brief as a heartbeat, and the town carried on—nothing bad ever happens here, but today, something was always happening.

06:52Whatever Kip Doyle and Dot Ferris were circling, they have landed on it.
08:00The town cat is asleep on the Town Hall steps. Municipal business reroutes around it.

12:48Bakery smells like plums and courage as Opal Ferris test-drives her first tall tale.
13:00Sal Marino has received a postcard from somewhere far away. The handwriting is unfamiliar.

14:20Whatever Orson Ferris and Opal Ferris were circling, they have landed on it.

18:00A heron has taken up position at Miller's Pond and is refusing to be hurried.
18:15practising stories worth telling has stopped being something Lark Ferris is trying, and become something they do.
19:00Faint harmonica music was heard from the dock. Everybody denies everything.
19:12Ewan Callahan has got to the bottom of it. The bottom was not far down.
19:47Jonah Ferris has got to the bottom of it. The bottom was not far down.
20:00The sun breaks through over Seahaven Springs, precisely on cue.
21:00It is warm enough to sit outside. Half the town has done exactly that.
22:04Orson Ferris has thanked every chair in The Anchor for its service.
22:09Linus Tidewater has thanked every chair in The Anchor for its service.
