What a curious Thursday it's been in Seahaven Springs—the mackerel ran, the rain came, and the town gathered in Marla's café like pilgrims at a shrine, steam rising from coffee cups while the clocks argued their little two-minute war and nobody minded a bit. Truman collected his lighthouse postcard, blessed and ordinary, while the harbour chose its blue at last, and somehow a gnome wandered to a new porch and a chair appeared at The Anchor without explanation—the sort of mysteries that ask nothing of anyone. By evening the rain had cleared to a rainbow so perfectly pitched it seemed almost staged, and the town settled into toasts and new friendships and alphabetical compliments, all of it warm and strange and exactly as it should be.
