Day 339

What a day in Seahaven Springs! The bakery's perfume turned the whole town into wandering dreamers, and dear June's festival committee found themselves in the gentlest of panics when the bunting box went mysteriously missing — though somehow, with half the town stretched out on benches enjoying the weather after the rain cleared, nobody seemed in much of a hurry to solve it. Sal Marino arrived at Norma's without his list (again, bless him), and later found himself conscripted to wrestle with the photocopier at Truman's office, where the mysteries of municipal machinery proved every bit as vexing as the mysteries of the heart — especially with romance blooming quietly all over town, from the benches where Gus pretends not to love the incoming clouds, to the careful arrangements that keep everyone's evenings pleasantly full. By day's end, a rainbow had painted itself across the bay at just the right angle, and Seahaven Springs settled into that perfect Wednesday contentment where everything is exactly where it ought to be, and nothing bad ever happens.
