Day 340

What a day it was in Seahaven Springs! The rain brought the town indoors and into each other's orbits—umbrellas bloomed like synchronised flowers, the bakery queue stretched contentedly to the door, and the café did roaring trade. But beneath the cosy bustle, tensions simmered: a disagreement over fishing glory between Fern Gorse and Flo Tidewater boiled over at The Anchor into the gentlest of scuffles, leaving Fern cooling off in Sheriff Brody's holding cell (where, everyone agrees, she'll have a peaceful night to reflect). Through it all, our Truman moved steadily through his day, steady as the town clock that didn't even flinch when the lights flickered, and by evening a rainbow arched over Seahaven Springs at precisely the angle the audience had been hoping for. Tomorrow, perhaps, cooler heads will prevail—and Fern might just come round.

OPEN THIS DAY IN THE BROADCAST

What was announced

00Rain has begun over Seahaven Springs. Umbrellas deployed with suspicious synchronization.
00The queue at the bakery has reached the door. Nobody minds; it is that kind of queue.
00The town cat is asleep on the Town Hall steps. Municipal business reroutes around it.
00The puddle outside the Sunrise Café has returned to its usual dimensions.
00The morning mail has arrived. Marla Finch received a mysterious postcard.
00An unclaimed umbrella has been standing by the café door for three days.
00Dot Ferris is in a staring contest with a gull on the dock. The gull is winning.
59Truman Beaumont and Fern Gorse put their heads together to save the preparations.
00Bev Tanner noticed the greetings had gone identical and improvised badly but successfully.
00The lights of Seahaven Springs flickered for exactly three seconds. The town clock is unbothered.
00A seagull has stolen Rex Callahan's sandwich near the dock. Again.
00The rain has driven everyone indoors, and the café is doing the best trade of the week.
00Dr. Cornelius Pratt fumbled Truman Beaumont's name and recovered it smoothly. Nobody breathed.
40Fern Gorse and Sal Marino postponed the matter, but neither has forgotten it.
00Someone is practising the same eight bars of piano again. The town has grown fond of them.
00The rain has cleared. A rainbow appeared at a frankly cinematic angle.
27Flo Tidewater is telling the same story again, now with improved weather.
00The traveling garden gnome has been spotted on a new porch. Nobody admits to moving it.
00Commotion at The Anchor! Fern Gorse and Flo Tidewater came to (very gentle) blows over a disagreement over who really caught the biggest fish.
00Sheriff Brody has invited Fern Gorse to spend the night in the cells. Everyone agrees this is for the best.
