The day brought its usual small wonders: a harmonica player at the dock who swears he wasn't playing, a confident gull besting young Edie in a staring contest, and clocks that can't quite agree on the time. Even the radio cooperated with Truman's off-key singing, as it does on the finest of Wednesday afternoons. As the sun dipped precisely on cue and clouds rolled in over the bay the way they always do, Seahaven Springs wound down with the contented sigh of a town where nothing truly goes wrong—only sideways in the most delightful way.
