Day 517 brought the kind of gentle chaos that makes Seahaven Springs home: a traveling gnome continued its mysterious journey, a gull bested Elaine in an impromptu staring match, and the town's clocks remained delightfully at odds with one another. Rain brought the café to bustling life before clearing to reveal a rainbow so perfectly angled it seemed almost staged, and warm evening air drew half the town outside to enjoy it. But the day's crown jewel came when Hal and Rex came to the most courteous of blows over the pronunciation of "buoy"—a disagreement so trifling it somehow felt entirely serious—leaving our sheriff and bartender decidedly not speaking. Still, there was music on the dock tonight, harmonica notes drifting through the salt air, and Rex's voice declaring twice over that this truly is the finest town in the world. Tomorrow, Norma and Gus will settle their coffee bet, and Hal will have to decide if a photocopier crisis might be the thing that brings him and Rex back together.
