Day 518
Day 518 saw the fog roll in with surgical precision, the sun break through on cue, and the whole town pause—just for a moment—as though listening for something only they could almost hear. There were reconciliations in the air: Fern and Edie mended what was broken, Hal and Rex cleared the air over a quiet drink, and down at The Salty Gull, the whole town gathered for Sunday supper as they always do. Truman sang badly to his kitchen radio, Gus pretended not to love the clouds, and a seagull made off with Marla's sandwich for the second time running—some things in Seahaven Springs, it seems, are as reliable as the tide itself. Tomorrow the fog will lift, the sun will rise, and life will go on in this little town by the bay, where everything works out and nothing ever quite explains itself.
