Day 732

Day 732 dawned ordinary in Seahaven Springs, but by evening the town had collected a day's worth of small wonders: a heron claimed Miller's Pond like a resident, a rainbow bent itself at just the right angle, and somewhere on the dock, Gus's harmonica found its voice one last time before he could deny it. The bakery's bread perfume had rendered the square delightfully unproductive, a kite had lodged itself in the park tree as a minor cause for committee work, and one ambitious hedge had overstepped its boundary by a single inch—though diplomacy would sort it by morning. Meanwhile Dot and Kip have stopped leaving their feelings to chance, little Jonah arrived at the store without his mother's list (again), and the town discovered it had grown quite fond of whoever's been practising those eight bars of piano. Even the rain cooperated, arriving just in time to be cleared away by sunset. Nothing bad ever happens in Seahaven Springs—but on a day like this, everything good seems to be blooming at once.
