What a day in Seahaven Springs! The rain came and went like a visiting relative, leaving behind a rainbow so perfect it looked almost rehearsed—and through it all, the town moved together with its usual grace: Bev recovering nicely at the General after her tumble, Marla forgetting her list at the store again (some things, Norma has learned, are simply part of the pattern), and the bakery queue stretching out the door because everyone knows a rainy day calls for fresh bread and warm company. By evening, as the umbrellas came out once more and the café filled to the brim, Truman was home singing badly to his favorite song, utterly content in the way only a man who doesn't know how carefully his world is arranged could be—and really, isn't that the most beautiful thing of all?
